Justin Upton drove in a pair of runs and Barry Enright put together another strong outing to carry the Arizona Diamondbacks to an 8-4 victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday.
Rusty Ryal, Bobby Crosby, Stephen Drew and Enright each drove in a run as Arizona salvaged a split of the four-game set.
Enright (3-2) gave up two runs on six hits in six innings for his second straight win. The 24-year-old has now allowed three runs or fewer in all six of his starts this season.
The Diamondbacks took an early lead at the expense of starter Ross Detwiler and were aided by three early Washington errors.
Drew’s single and Enright’s base knock in the fourth gave them a 4-1 lead before run-producing singles by Upton and Ryal in the seventh helped push it to a five-run cushion.
Detwiler (0-2) was charged with seven runs - four earned - on nine hits in four innings of work. He struck out five and walked a pair.
Washington connected on four solo home runs for its scoring. Ryan Zimmerman clubbed a pair and Adam Kennedy and Roger Bernadina also went deep.
