Carlos Quentin's two-run single with the bases loaded broke a seventh-inning tie and led the Chicago White Sox to an 8-7 win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
The victory was only Chicago's fourth in 12 games this season against Cleveland, which couldn't hold a 6-2 lead.
Quentin's hit up the middle came with two outs off Rafael Perez. Juan Pierre's single off Tony Sipp (1-2) started the inning. Jensen Lewis walked two hitters to load the bases before Quentin delivered on a 0-2 pitch.
Quentin also had an RBI single in the fourth.
J.J. Putz (1-2) pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win. Bobby Jenks retired the side in order in the ninth for his ninth save in 10 chances.
Neither starting pitcher was involved in the decision. Mark Buehrle allowed six runs and eight hits in three innings, including three Indians runs in the first and a three-run homer by Lou Marson in the third.
Jake Westbrook took a four-run lead into the fifth, but didn't get through the inning as the White Sox scored three times. He allowed six runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, including Paul Konerko's two-run homer in the first.
Jhonny Peralta drove in three runs for Cleveland.
