Francisco Liriano pitched eight shutout innings and Michael Cuddyer homered and drove in three runs in the Minnesota Twins’ 6-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday.
Denard Span had a two-run single in the third and Cuddyer added a homer in the sixth and a two-run triple in the eighth for Minnesota. The Twins, who won for the fifth time in their last six games, will go for the sweep on Thursday afternoon.
Liriano (2-0) extended his scoreless innings streak to 15, allowing six hits with five strikeouts and two walks. He hasn’t allowed a run dating back to April 9, his first start of the season.
David Huff (1-2), coming off his first career complete game, was charged with all four runs. He walked six in six innings.
The Indians loaded the bases with one out in the fifth, but Asdrubal Cabrera grounded into an inning-ending double play to squelch their only threat.
