Cody Ross, Chris Coghlan and Mike Stanton all hit home runs to back Ricky Nolasco’s seven solid innings and the Florida Marlins beat the New York Mets 10-3 on Monday in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The Marlins sent Mets starter R.A. Dickey to his first defeat of the season after the knuckleballer had set a franchise record by winning his first six decisions with the Mets. Dickey (6-1) allowed five runs on five hits over five innings.
Florida continued to tee off against the Mets' bullpen as Ross and Coghlan hit homers against Fernando Nieve and the rookie Stanton added a three-run shot off Ryota Igarashi in the eighth.
Ross had three hits and two RBIs, Coghlan had two hits and scored three runs and Hanley Ramirez drove in two runs for Florida, which snapped a four-game losing streak.
Jason Bay drove in all three runs for the Mets with a pair of home runs, his fifth and sixth of the season.
Aside from the Bay homers, Nolasco (7-6) didn't give up much, allowing the three runs on four hits while strking out nine.
