Kevin Correia pitched six solid innings and the San Diego bullpen closed the door to carry the Padres to a 5-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday.
Five different Padres drove in a run and five players each scored a run in the win.
Correia (7-6) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings before turning the game over to the Padres relief corps.
Ernesto Frieri and Luke Gregerson each tossed a scoreless inning to pave the way to Heath Bell, who picked up his 28th save of the season with a perfect ninth.
Correia, Jerry Hairston Jr., Chris Denorfia and Adrian Gonzalez all recorded an RBI in the second inning as San Diego grabbed a 4-0 edge.
Paul Maholm (6-8) took the loss and had just one bad inning - the second. Maholm lasted six innings and allowed the four runs and nine hits with a pair of walks and two strikeouts.
