Jose Molina drilled an RBI single to right-center field in the ninth inning to give the Toronto Blue Jays a 5-4 walk-off win over the visiting New York Yankees on Friday night.
Adam Lind had three hits and three RBIs to help Toronto halt a five-game losing streak to the Yankees, who saw their lead over Boston trimmed to 3 1/2 games in the American League East race. The Red Sox edged Tampa Bay 4-3.
Lind's three-run double off Yankees ace CC Sabathia in the fifth gave the Blue Jays a 4-3 lead, and he started the ninth inning with a double off Boone Logan, his first hit in 12 at-bats against the New York lefthander.
Casey Janssen (5-0) pitched two perfect innings in relief to earn the victory for Toronto.
Molina's hit off Cory Wade hung the loss on Logan (5-3).
Sabathia was denied in his bid to become the second 20-game winner in the majors. He lasted 5 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on 10 hits.
Blue Jays starter Dustin McGowan, a late fill-in for scheduled starter Brett Cecil, gave up three runs in five innings in his second start of the year. Cecil had been scratched after suffering a cut on his left index finger earlier in the week.
