Diamondbacks 15, Rockies 5: Miguel Montero and Chris Johnson drove in three runs apiece and seven players recorded multi-hit performances as visiting Arizona registered a season-high 19 hits en route to its fourth win in five games.

Johnson and Adam Eaton each belted a two-run homer while Paul Goldschmidt and John McDonald added two RBIs apiece for the Diamondbacks, who climbed within 4 1/2 games of St. Louis for the second wild-card spot in the National League with 12 contests remaining.

Montero, who ignited a three-run rally in the third with a two-run double, snapped a 4-4 tie an inning later with an RBI single and scored on Johnson's double. McDonald capped the four-run frame with a two-run single, Eaton hit his second career homer in the sixth and Johnson launched his 15th of the year and seventh with Arizona in the following inning.

Rookie Wade Miley (16-10) improved to 4-0 lifetime against Colorado despite yielding five runs and 10 hits over six innings.

Alex White (2-9) took the loss in relief of starter Drew Pomeranz, surrendering five runs on as many hits and three walks in just 1 1/3 frames. Wilin Rosario collected three hits and an RBI for the Rockies, who have lost seven in a row.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Colorado must win five of its final 12 games to avoid its first 100-loss season. ... The 15 runs by the Diamondbacks are their most since Sept. 24, 2011. ... Montero leads all major-league catchers with 88 RBIs, a new career high.
