Harold Ramirez, Curtis Mead and Christian Bethancourt had three hits apiece, Tyler Glasnow logged six sharp innings and the Tampa Bay Rays cruised to a 10-2 victory over the host San Francisco Giants on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series.
Yandy Diaz, Randy Arozarena and Jose Siri each added two hits for the Rays, who racked up 18 as a team.
Osleivis Basabe contributed a two-run single while filling in for Wander Franco, who didn't make Sunday's trip to San Francisco while Major League Baseball investigates a personal matter.
After missing his last scheduled start due to back spasms, Glasnow (6-3) hadn't taken the mound since July 31, but he coasted through an 87-pitch outing, allowing just one run and three hits. He walked three and struck out seven.
Jacob Lopez threw the final three innings, allowing one run, to record a save in his major league debut.
Giants opener Ryan Walker and bulk-innings reliever Tristan Beck (3-2) combined to match Glasnow zero for zero through three innings before the Rays took the lead for good with a three-run fourth. Mead and Bethancourt set the stage with singles before Basabe grounded his two-run base hit to right and Diaz launched an RBI double.
The visitors made it 5-0 in the fifth when Bethancourt and Manuel Margot each ripped a run-scoring single.
Glasnow's only hiccup occurred in the last of the fifth, when a Joc Pederson single, Michael Conforto walk and Thairo Estrada single combined to get the Giants on the scoreboard. A one-out walk to Brandon Crawford loaded the bases, but Glasnow escaped further damage by striking out Johan Camargo before LaMonte Wade Jr. flied out.
Bethancourt hammered a solo home run in the seventh. Tampa Bay then tacked on two more runs in both the eighth and ninth.
Beck took the loss, charged with five runs on 10 hits in three innings. He walked one and struck out two.
Ramirez scored three times, while Mead, Bethancourt and Arozarena each scored twice.
Estrada capped a two-RBI night with a run-scoring double in the eighth for the Giants, who lost for the seventh time in their past nine games.
