Kris Bubic allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings to help the Kansas City Royals to a 4-1 win against the visiting Baltimore Orioles in the rubber game of their three-game series on Sunday afternoon.

Bubic (2-0) surrendered five hits, struck out eight and walked one. The left-hander threw six shutout innings in his season debut last Monday, an 11-1 win against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Bobby Witt Jr. singled, doubled and tripled, Salvador Perez, Mark Canha and Maikel Garcia each had two hits and a run scored, and Michael Massey drove in two runs for the Royals.

Baltimore starter Cade Povich (0-1) allowed four runs and 13 hits over six innings. The left-hander struck out four and didn't walk a batter.

Ryan Mountcastle had three of the five hits for the Orioles.

Witt hit a fly ball to right-center field that center fielder Jorge Mateo misjudged for a triple with one out in the first. Vinnie Pasquantino then lined a sacrifice fly to right field for a 1-0 lead.

Mateo was starting in center because Cedric Mullins was getting his first day off this season.

Perez and Canha followed with singles before Massey delivered a two-out two-run double into the left-field corner to extend the lead to 3-0.

Garcia singled up the middle to start the second, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a single to left-center field by Freddy Fermin to make it 4-0.

The Royals had runners on second and third with one out later in the second inning and couldn't add to their lead. They also had runners on first and third with no out in the fifth, and a runner at third with one out in the seventh and couldn't score either time.

Mountcastle led off the seventh with a high fly to the warning track in right field that Hunter Renfroe was unable to catch, allowing Mountcastle to take third with a triple and later score on a wild pitch to cut it to 4-1.

Carlos Estevez pitched the ninth for his second save.
