Davis Martin threw 6 2/3 quality innings and Lenyn Sosa and Michael A. Taylor homered, propelling the visiting Chicago White Sox to a 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday.
Martin (2-4) allowed just one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out five. Luis Robert Jr. reached base three times and drove in a run for the White Sox, who won a third straight game for the first time this year.
Chicago rookie reliever Mike Vasil worked around Will Benson's one-out walk in the ninth to post his first career save.
Reds starter Nick Lodolo (3-4) gave up three runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings for. He also struck out four and walked two. Spencer Steer doubled and homered for Cincinnati, which dropped its ninth game in 11 tries.
Robert began the second inning with a single and a stolen base before Andrew Vaughn's RBI double gave the White Sox a 1-0 lead.
Chicago threatened again in the third, as Chase Meidroth's one-out single was followed by Edgar Quero's two-out single and Robert's walk to load the bases. Lodolo got Vaughn to fly out, escaping the jam.
The White Sox tacked on in the top of the fifth, as Meidroth led off with a single and scored on Robert's two-out base hit.
Sosa launched his third homer of the season in the sixth -- a 385-foot shot -- to give the White Sox a 3-0 lead and chase Lodolo from the game.
Chicago added another run in the seventh, with Taylor's solo homer, his second of the year. The leadoff shot off reliever Scott Barlow extended the lead to 4-0.
The Reds finally broke through in the bottom of the seventh when Steer hit his fourth homer of the season to open the frame. Martin then allowed Jose Trevino's single but retired Benson and Matt McLain before Jordan Leasure relieved the Chicago starter. Leasure struck out Rece Hinds to end the frame.
The Reds pulled closer in the eighth on two-out doubles from Elly De La Cruz and Austin Hays, cutting Chicago's lead to 4-2.
