Sean Murphy homered among his three hits, Matt Canha homered and doubled, and the visiting Oakland A's beat the Colorado Rockies 9-5 in Denver on Friday night.

Jed Lowrie and Matt Olson had two hits for Oakland, which has won three straight.

Alan Trejo hit a home run, Raimel Tapia had three hits and Yonathan Daza and Brendan Rodgers had two hits each for Colorado, which lost starter Jon Gray early in the game to right elbow soreness, according to manager Bud Black.

Canha led off the game with a walk and scored on Olson's one-out double to make it 1-0. Murphy hit the first pitch of the second inning over the fence in right-center field for his sixth homer of the season.

The A's followed that with a big third inning to expand their lead. Canha led off with a home run, his 11th, and one out later, Olson singled and Seth Brown walked.

After that, Gray exited the game and was replaced by Chi Chi Gonzalez.

Gray (4-6) allowed five runs on four hits and walked two in 2 1/3 innings.

Lowrie and Murphy greeted Gonzalez with consecutive singles to drive in two more runs and Matt Chapman's sacrifice fly made it 6-0.

The Rockies got to starter Frankie Montas in their half of the third. With one out, Tapia singled and Daza tripled off the top of the right-field wall to bring home Colorado's first run. Charlie Blackmon grounded out to second to bring home Daza.

The Rockies added another run in the fourth when Garrett Hampson and Rodgers led off with singles and Elias Diaz grounded into a fielder's choice to drive in Hampson from third.

Montas (6-5) allowed three runs on six hits in five innings.

The A's got a run in the sixth on Canha's double that drove in Chapman and consecutive two-out doubles by Lowrie and Murphy in the seventh made it 8-3.

Trejo led off Colorado's seventh with his first career homer, Tapia doubled and scored on Blackmon's single.

Oakland got another run in the eighth on Tony Kemp's RBI double.
