Yasmani Grandal and Adam Engel each homered, Dallas Keuchel struck out a season-high eight batters and the Chicago White Sox pulled away for a 5-2 win over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday night.

Jose Abreu added two doubles and two RBIs for the White Sox, who won the rubber match of the three-game series. Chicago finished its seven-game homestand with a 5-2 record.

Marcus Semien and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had one RBI apiece to lead the Blue Jays at the plate. Toronto lost for the fourth time in its past six games.

Keuchel (5-1) gave up two runs on six hits and two walks in six innings. He threw 65 of 104 pitches for strikes.

Blue Jays starter Hyun Jin Ryu (5-4) gave up three runs on five hits in six innings. He walked one and fanned three.

White Sox closer Liam Hendriks pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his American League-leading 16th save.

The White Sox seized a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Abreu hit a two-out double to drive in Yermin Mercedes from second base, and Grandal clubbed a two-run shot in the next at-bat for his 10th homer.

Toronto cut the deficit to 3-1 in the fifth. Joe Panik reached on an infield single, advanced to second base on another infield single by Santiago Espinal and scored on Semien's single to center field.

In the sixth, Toronto pulled within 3-2. Gurriel hit an RBI single to drive in Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

A solo shot by Engel in the seventh increased the White Sox's lead to 4-2. He hit a 95 mph fastball an estimated 414 feet over the wall in center field for his first home run since Sept. 27, 2020.

Chicago made it 5-2 in the eighth when Abreu doubled down the left-field line to score Tim Anderson from first.

Before the game, the White Sox announced that second baseman Nick Madrigal sustained a right hamstring tear one night earlier while trying to beat out a groundout. The team placed Madrigal on the 60-day injured list and promoted outfielder Brian Goodwin from Triple-A Charlotte.
