Enrique Hernandez and Rafael Devers homered during a four-run first inning against Gerrit Cole, and the Boston Red Sox completed a three-game sweep with a 9-2 victory over the visiting New York Yankees on Sunday afternoon.

Devers finished with three hits and four RBIs, and J.D. Martinez and Christian Vazquez also went deep as the Red Sox improved to 6-0 against the Yankees. Boston has outscored its rival 36-17 in the season series.

Aaron Judge homered and DJ LeMahieu had two hits for New York. Cole (8-4) surrendered a season-high six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks over five innings, striking out six.

Hernandez took Cole's first pitch of the day into the first row of seats atop the Green Monster in left for an immediate 1-0 Red Sox lead. Alex Verdugo doubled and Martinez walked to set the stage for Devers' three-run shot over the bullpens in right to up the advantage to four.

The Yankees threatened in the top of the third with two on and one out, but Eduardo Rodriguez pitched out of the jam unscathed. Martinez led off the bottom of the inning with his homer to center, and a Vazquez sacrifice fly made it 6-0 Boston.

Rodriguez settled in, striking out a pair in both the fourth and fifth innings. He retired eight straight before LeMahieu led off the sixth with a single and scored on Judge's towering home run over the Green Monster, which cut New York's deficit to 6-2.

Rodriguez (6-4) allowed two runs on five hits and no walks over six innings. He punched out eight.

The Yankees loaded the bases with one out in the seventh on two walks and a single, but Garrett Whitlock struck out LeMahieu looking and got Judge to pop out to first to end the threat.

Devers singled home Boston's seventh run in the bottom of the frame, and the hosts tacked on two more in the eighth -- including on Vazquez's first homer since May 19 -- to complete the scoring.
