Ray Allen connected on his first seven 3-pointers and scored a team-high 35 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a 112-107 win over the Heat at Miami on Thursday night.
As in Boston's 88-80 season-opening win, the Celtics led throughout the contest.
Boston (7-2) built a 17-point lead in the second quarter and maintained the advantage late in the third quarter.
The Heat closed the gap to 88-78 after three quarters and cut it to 110-107 with 13 seconds left. But Allen put the game away a couple of seconds later on the free throw line.
Allen finished 7 for 9 from 3-point range. Paul Pierce had 25 points and Rajon Rondo had 16 assists for the Celtics.
LeBron James led Miami (5-4) with 35 points. Chris Bosh had 15 and Dwyane Wade had eight on 2 of 12 shooting.
Shaquille O’Neal returned to the Boston lineup after missing the last five games with a bruised right knee. He scored five points and grabbed seven rebounds.
