Russell Westbrook scored 12 of his 25 points in the final 5:50 and added 11 assists to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder past the New Orleans Hornets 95-89 on Monday.

Kevin Durant added 26 points and 11 rebounds and Jeff Green chipped in 13 points for Oklahoma City, which has won seven of nine.

The Thunder led 50-48 at the half and held it until early in the third when New Orleans ripped off a 13-1 run to pull ahead 63-57. Oklahoma City came back to cut it to 70-68 at the end of the third and hung around into the fourth, taking the lead back when Westbrook hit two free throws with 4:01 left in the game.

Westbrook’s free throws came in the midst of a 14-0 burst that turned an 81-75 deficit into an 89-81 lead. The Hornets went more than five minutes without scoring late in the fourth quarter.

David West finished with 20 points and Chris Paul collected 17 points and 14 assists for New Orleans, which has dropped four of five.
