Monta Ellis had 22 points and eight assists, and Brandon Rush scored 19 points as the Golden State Warriors dominated the fourth quarter en route to a 92-78 victory over the visiting New York Knicks on Wednesday.
Ellis had 12 points and seven assists in the final quarter as the Warriors outscored the Knicks 25-6 over the first eight minutes of the stanza to break open a close game.
The Warriors held New York’s high-scoring duo of Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony to 29 points on 8-of-27 shooting. Stoudemire scored a team-high 16 and Anthony had 13.
Golden State won its second straight game despite being without point guard Stephen Curry, who aggravated an ankle injury during Monday’s victory over Chicago.
Rush hit a 3-pointer in the final second of the third quarter to tie the score at 64. The basket started the uprising that Ellis culminated with eight consecutive points – including two 3-pointers -- to give Golden State an 89-70 lead with 4:08 remaining.
David Lee added 13 points and Kwame Brown grabbed 10 rebounds for the Warriors, who outrebounded the Knicks 47-31.
Landry Fields and Bill Walker added 14 points apiece for New York.
Fields scored 13 first-half points to help the Knicks to a 43-37 halftime lead.
