Spurs 110, Grizzlies 108 (OT): Manu Ginobili hit huge baskets in the final seconds of regulation and overtime and host Memphis didn't have an answer for the second one as San Antonio escaped with its fifth win in six games.
Tim Duncan racked up 24 points and 17 rebounds and Marco Belinelli added 19 points for the Spurs, who squandered a 12-point lead late in the fourth quarter. Kawhi Leonard scored 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Patty Mills and Boris Diaw each added 11 off the bench for the Spurs, who improved to 14-3 on the road.
Mike Conley poured in 30 points for the Grizzlies, including a runner at the buzzer to force overtime, but his deep 3-point attempt at the final horn glanced off the front of the rim. Zach Randolph scored 17 points and James Johnson added a season-high 15 for Memphis, which dropped to 7-12 at home after going 32-9 at FedEx Forum last season.
Memphis trailed by as many as 16 and was down 96-84 before beginning its furious rally with 1:35 left in regulation. Conley scored seven of the Grizzlies' 12 straight points and Johnson hit a 3-pointer to tie it with 13 seconds left before Ginobili and Conley traded buckets in the final 3.6 seconds.
San Antonio led 53-41 at halftime after shooting 57.5 percent in the first 24 minutes but Memphis scrapped back into it. Conley's jumper pulled the Grizzlies within 62-57 with five minutes left in the third quarter before Leonard and Boris Diaw hit 3-pointers as the Spurs answered with an 8-0 burst and took a 10-point advantage into the final stanza.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Spurs held a 44-40 edge on the boards and improved to 16-0 when outrebounding their opponent. … Memphis G Courtney Lee, just acquired from Boston in exchange for Jerryd Bayless, made his debut for the Grizzlies and scored 12 points in 26 minutes. … Lee was forced into action because G Tony Allen (wrist) was out for a second straight game. He is considered day-to-day.
