Anthony Edwards scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, D'Angelo Russell added 25 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves picked up their third straight win with a 117-110 defeat of the Sacramento Kings on Saturday in Minneapolis.
Minnesota, playing its second game in as many nights, jumped ahead early and led most of the way -- but never by more than 12 points.
However, the Timberwolves answered every Sacramento rally in the fourth quarter, with the punctuation mark coming on Edwards' 3-pointer with 16.2 seconds remaining. The Kings had cut the deficit to four points the prior possession when De'Aaron Fox dunked home two of his team-high 29 points.
Edwards shot 5 of 7 from beyond the 3-point arc en route to his fourth game with at least 31 points over Minnesota's last five. The Timberwolves are 4-1 in that stretch.
Edwards also matched the game high with six assists, a mark that both Russell and Sacramento's Fox reached. Kyle Anderson dished out another five assists for Minnesota to go with nine points.
Jaden McDaniels scored 15 points, Rudy Gobert added 13 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and Naz Reid came off the bench to score 14 points for the Timberwolves.
Domantas Sabonis posted a double-double for Sacramento, which opened a seven-game road swing. Sabonis finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Harrison Barnes and Malik Monk each scored 13 points for the Kings, and Kevin Huerter went for 11 points and seven rebounds.
Sacramento shot a woeful 9 of 33 from 3-point range and just 37 of 82 (45.1 percent) from the floor overall. Minnesota went 42 of 80 (52.5 percent) from the floor and 17 of 37 from beyond the arc.
Minnesota won its second straight to open a six-game homestand, which continues when these teams meet again on Monday. Sacramento came into Saturday's contest leading the NBA in scoring at 119 points per game, but has fallen short of its average in two straight outings -- both losses.
