Anthony Edwards scored 26 points, Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves held on for a 107-97 win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night in Minneapolis.
D'Angelo Russell had 17 points and seven assists for Minnesota, which snapped a six-game home losing streak. Patrick Beverley contributed 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
De'Aaron Fox led Sacramento with 28 points on 10-for-20 shooting. Buddy Hield chipped in 16 points off the bench, and Harrison Barnes finished with 13 points.
The Kings pulled within 91-89 on a step-back jumper by Fox with 5:43 left in the game. From there, Minnesota went on a 10-4 run to take a 101-93 lead with 2:01 remaining. Edwards hit two 3-pointers during the late run, and Russell had a driving layup and a jump shot.
The Kings never got the lead under six points the rest of the way. Towns and Jaden McDaniels had slam dunks on back-to-back possessions to help seal the outcome.
Sacramento led 52-51 with 10 minutes left in the third period, but Minnesota went on a 15-6 run to seize a 66-58 advantage with 6:23 to go. The Timberwolves led 77-72 at the end of the third quarter.
Sacramento went on a 7-0 run early in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 79-all. Hield drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to fuel the spurt.
After Sacramento scored the game's first four points, Minnesota enjoyed an 8-0 run to pull ahead. But neither side led by more than five points during the first quarter, which ended with the Timberwolves on top 22-18.
In the second quarter, the Kings went on an 11-4 run to grab a 40-34 lead with 3:08 remaining in the first half. The Kings led 48-44 at the break.
Timberwolves forward Naz Reid returned to action after missing one game because of a right foot injury. He had eight points and two rebounds in a reserve role.
