No. 4 Pittsburgh had little trouble disposing of visiting Illinois-Chicago, 97-54, Wednesday in the 2K Sport Challenge/Coaches vs. Cancer at the' Petersen Events Center.
The Panthers (2-0) jumped on the Flames (0-1) early and took a 43-29 lead into halftime.
Pitt's talented backcourt of Brad Wanamaker and Ashton Gibbs had another big night, combining for 41 points. Gibbs had 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Thirteen of Wanamaker's 17 points came in a first half. The Panthers' duo combined for 46 points in Monday's win over Rhode Island.
K.C. Robbins led the Flames with 12 points. Robbins was the only UIC player to score in double-digits. The Flames shot 33 percent from the field and were dominated on the glass by more than 20 rebounds.
Pittsburgh improved to 77-1 in non-conference play at the Petersen Events Center.
Pittsburgh hosts North Florida Saturday, before facing Maryland in the Championship Round of the 2K Challenge Nov. 18 at Madison Square Garden.
Illinois-Chicago will try to bounce back at home against Roosevelt Monday.
