Joevan Catron scored 15 points as Oregon defeated Santa Barbara 72-70 in the BTI Invitational at Eugene, Ore., on Sunday.
Catron's layup with 2:10 remaining gave Oregon a 71-70 lead, and he scored the final point with 2 seconds left.
Catron averaged 20.6 points this weekend as the Ducks (3-0) also defeated Denver and North Dakota State.
James Nunnally had game highs of 28 points and seven rebounds, and was 11 for 12 from the free-throw line for the Gauchos (1-2).
Orlando Johnson, the reigning Big West Conference Player of the Year, scored 24 points for Santa Barbara, but missed a shot in the closing seconds. The Gauchos had one more chance, but turned it over with 2 seconds left.
Malcolm Armstead had 12 points and seven assists, E.J. Singler scored 11 points and Teondre Williams and Tyrone Nared scored 10 apiece for the Ducks.
Both teams return to action Saturday when Santa Barbara hosts Fresno State, and Oregon hosts San Jose State.
