Duke was faced with its first real test of the season on Monday night. Thanks to Mason Plumlee, the Blue Devils aced it.

Plumlee dominated at both ends of the floor, finishing with 25 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots as Duke topped Marquette, 82-77, in the semifinals of the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic in Kansas City.

The Blue Devils (4-0) jumped out to an early 23-9 lead and led for most of the night. The Golden Eagles rallied midway through the second half, putting together a 10-2 run that tied the game at 53-53 with 11:21 to go, but Duke, which shot 54.7 percent from the floor on the evening, responded with nine consecutive points, building a 66-57 cushion that it would hang onto the rest of the way.

Nolan Smith added 18 points for the Blue Devils, including a 3-pointer with 10:08 left that gave his team the lead for good. Jimmy Butler paced Marquette (4-1) with 22 points.
