Pittsburgh had its way at home with yet another non-conference opponent.
The Panthers opened up a big first-half lead and extended their non-conference home winning streak to 52 games with an 82-58 victory over Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Pitt has not lost a home game to a non-conference foe since a 69-66 loss to Bucknell in 2005.
The Panthers jumped on the Quakers from the outset, outrebounding them 17-7 over the opening 20 minutes and getting seven points from Nasir Robinson and Dante Taylor to open up a 36-18 lead.
Pitt kept up the pressure in the second half and never allowed Penn to make a run.
Ashton Gibbs scored 12 points and J.J. Moore and Taylor each added 11 for the Panthers (6-0).
Miles Cartwright scored 22 points, Jack Eggleston had 16 and Zack Rosen 11 for the Quakers (2-3).
The Panthers play their next six at home against non-Big East teams before their conference opener against surprising Connecticut on Dec. 27. Their non-conference streak figures to be tested on Dec. 11 when No. 24 Tennessee, the NIT Tip-Off champion, pays a visit.
