After a pair of tight games against tough opponents, No. 24 Texas A&M got a bit of a breather Tuesday and posted an 86-51 non-conference victory over Wagner at Reed Arena.
The Aggies (11-1) were coming off Saturday’s tense 71-62 win over Arkansas and had already knocked off then-No. 21 Washington on December 11.
Texas A&M wasn’t about to let Wagner hang around until the final minutes and raced out to a 40-20 lead at the half.
David Loubeau was one of four players in double figures for the Aggies with a team high 16 points. B.J. Holmes scored 12 and Kourtney Roberson and Nathan Walkup added 10 each for Texas A&M, which has won eight straight.
One of the nation’s top defensive teams, Texas A&M entered Tuesday allowing 57 points per game. The Aggies held the Seahawks to even less by holding them to just 35.4 percent shooting from the field (17-of-48).
Chris Martin scored 17 points and Latif Rivers added 13 for the Seahawks (4-6).
Wagner’s first-year head coach, Dan Hurley, is the younger brother of former Duke All American guard Bobby Hurley Jr., who is now a Wagner assistant.
