Josh White led four players in double figures with 19 points and Johnny Jones won in his return to his alma mater as North Texas rolled to a 75-55 road victory over LSU Wednesday.
Tristan Thompson had 14 points for the Mean Green (10-2), who have emerged as one of the best mid-majors in the country under the guidance of Jones - a former star guard and assistant coach at LSU.
The defending Sun Belt Conference champions shot 55 percent (29 of 52) and sent the young Tigers (7-5) tumbling to their first losing streak of the season.
The Mean Green jumped out to a 42-26 halftime lead and never looked back.
The Tigers have relied primarily on true freshmen guards Andre Stringer and Ralston Turner, but both struggled. Stringer, who was saddled with four fouls, had just seven points and Turner added nine points on 4 of 16 shooting.
Malcolm White’s 12 points led the way for the Tigers, who shot just 37 percent (23 of 63).
