David Tairu scored 18 points, leading Texas Tech to a 70-55 victory over Texas A&M Corpus-Christi on Sunday.
Mike Singletary had 17 points for Texas Tech (7-7), which won its first game without suspended point guard Jon Roberson. The Red Raiders led 33-18 at halftime and extended the lead to as many as 27 points in the second half.
One of the worst defensive teams in the country, the Red Raiders held the Islanders (5-9) to 36 percent from the floor (18 of 49) and 25 percent from beyond the 3-point line (4 of 16).
