Kyle Kuric scored 19 points, and Terrence Jennings had 10 points and nine rebounds as No. 13 Louisville escaped with a 61-57 victory over visiting DePaul on Saturday.
Peyton Siva went 0 of 8 from the field, but had eight assists and four rebounds for the Cardinals (18-5, 7-3 Big East), who stayed within two games of Pittsburgh at the top of the Big East.
Brandon Young scored 15 points for the Blue Demons (6-16, 0-10), who remain the only winless team in the Big East.
The Blue Demons shot 52 percent in the first half and led 32-23 before Louisville closed the period with an 11-2 burst to knot it at 34-34.
DePaul jumped out quickly after the break and took a 43-38 lead in the first four minutes, but the Cardinals responded with another 11-2 run, and Kuric’s 3-pointer with 8:52 to go put Louisville on top for good.
Kuric was 6 for 9 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range.
DePaul managed only five points in the final 7:33.
The Cardinals travel to No. 8 Notre Dame on Wednesday to begin a string of three of their next four games against ranked opponents.
