Jimmer Fredette scored 25 points and No. 8 Brigham Young connected on a season-high 15 3-point baskets while cruising to a 90-52 victory over host Air Force on Wednesday.
Fredette had five 3-pointers as the Cougars (23-2, 9-1 Mountain West) regained a share of first place with San Diego State. Jackson Emery also had five 3-pointers while scoring 17 points.
Tom Fow and Michael Lyons scored 11 points apiece for Air Force (13-10, 4-6).
The Cougars broke the game open with a 16-0 first-half run to take a 31-12 lead. Backup forward Stephen Rogers made three 3-pointers during the surge.
Air Force responded with consecutive 3-pointers from Fow, Todd Fletcher and Derek Brooks and trailed by 11 points at halftime. But BYU used a 14-0 run early in the second half to build a 50-27 advantage and rolled from there.
Brandon Davies scored 13 points and Rogers had 11 for the Cougars, who shot 57.9 percent from the field. BYU hit 15 of 30 3-point attempts.
Fredette entered as the nation’s leading scorer at 27.6 points per game.
