Brandon Richardson scored 15 points, including four free throws in the last 43 seconds to snap a tie, and Toney McCray added 14 as host Nebraska held off a late charge and upset No. 2 Texas, 70-67, on Saturday.
Andre Almeida added 10 points and five rebounds for the Cornhuskers (18-8, 6-6 Big 12), who gave their at-large hopes for an NCAA Tournament berth a huge jolt with their third straight win.
Jordan Hamilton scored seven of his 18 points in the final 1:41 but shot just 3 of 16 for the Longhorns (23-4, 11-1), who squandered a chance to jump up into the No. 1 spot in the country after current leader Kansas dropped a game earlier in the week.
Texas led 33-26 at the half, but Nebraska quickly turned it around after the break, jumping out with a 24-9 burst while going 10 of 13 from the field in that span. The Cornhuskers stretched the lead out to 60-49 with 5:24 left, as the Longhorns went over six minutes without a field goal.
Texas made one last push to get back into it, knotting at 65-65 with 1:07 left, but Nebraska went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line in the final 43 seconds to pull it out.
