The competition may not be a great barometer, but No. 16 BYU showed it doesn't need a big game from Jimmer Fredette every night.
The nation's third-leading scorer matched his season low of 13 points Saturday night, but the host Cougars didn't need them as five others reached double figures in a 93-57 rout over NAIA opponent Fresno Pacific.
Fredette and BYU (14-1) will get a better idea of where they stand Wednesday when the Cougars begin Mountain West play at Nevada Las-Vegas (12-2). The Rebels boast triumphs over ranked teams Wisconsin and Kansas State; BYU, whose lone loss came against UCLA on Dec. 18, has yet to face a Top 25 opponent.
Stephen Rogers scored 16 points and Noah Hartsock had 14 to lead 11 Cougars who found the scoring column against Fresno Pacific (10-4).
BYU held the Sunbirds scoreless over the final 4:02 of the first half and ended on a 22-4 run for a 44-24 halftime cushion.
Jerante Morgan's game-high 25 points led the Sunbirds, who had little left in the tank after losing at UC Santa Barbara 83-75 in overtime Friday night.
