CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Top-seeded Duke rolled over Hampton 87-45 Friday as star freshman Kyrie Irving, playing for first time since early December, led the Blue Devils with 14 points.

Duke (31-4) advanced to play eighth-seeded Michigan on Sunday, a rematch of the 1992 national title game in which the Blue Devils pounded the Fab Five 71-51.

Irving, who’s been out with a severe toe injury, entered less than five minutes in and looked quick but rusty. He missed his first four shots and committed two turnovers before driving for a layup with 5:28 left in the blowout.

Irving used a late flurry, including two 3-pointers, to finish with 14 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist. He was averaging 17.4 points and 5.1 assists when he got hurt, and Duke earned its No. 1 seed without him.

Duke, which led 39-22 at the half, dominated the Pirates on the glass 36-25. Miles Plumlee had 13 rebounds and eight points. Andre Dawkins scored 13, Mason Plumlee 12 and Kyle Singler 11.

Darrion Pellum and Charles Funches led Hampton (24-9) with nine points apiece.
