Gabe Blair led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds as No. 4 seed Wichita State held off visiting College of Charleston 82-75 on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the NIT.
J.T. Durley added 14 points for the Shockers (27-8), who will play Washington State on Tuesday in the semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Charleston senior Andrew Goudelock had 31 points, and finished his career with 2,571 points. He is 38th on the NCAA all-time list, one spot ahead of Brigham Young's Jimmer Fredette (2,567).
The sixth-seeded Cougars (26-11), the regular-season champion of the Southern Conference, had taken down two higher-seeded teams in Dayton and Cleveland State to reach the quarterfinals.
Wichita State took control at the end of the first half with a 19-6 burst to take a 37-25 lead at the break. Blair scored six points and Graham Hatch hit a pair of 3-pointers during the run.
The Shockers pushed the lead to as much as 67-48 with less than eight minutes to play before the Cougars got as close as 81-75 in the final minute after Goudeluck hit his seventh 3-pointer.
