Second-ranked Ohio State didn't need Jared Sullinger on Saturday afternoon, coasting to a 64-35 home victory over Texas-Pan American.

The Buckeyes (8-0), who were missing their All-America forward due to back spasms, outscored the Broncs (2-7) by an 11-2 margin over the first eight minutes and 36 seconds of action. Deshaun Thomas scored seven of his 11 points during that early run.

Ohio State used a strong defensive effort to dominate the game, holding Texas-Pan American to 32 percent shooting from the field and forcing 21 turnovers. The Buckeyes also enjoyed a 44-24 rebounding advantage.

Evan Ravenel, who replaced Sullinger in the starting lineup, finished with 11 points and seven rebounds for Ohio State. Jared Maree paced the Broncs in defeat with 13 points.
