Mike Moser and Justin Hawkins scored 17 points apiece to help No. 17 Nevada-Las Vegas cruise to an 89-57 victory over host Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday.
Oscar Bellfield added 13 points and Anthony Marshall tallied 12 as the Rebels (16-2) won their seventh consecutive contest and equaled their best start since the 1992-93 season.
Zachary Lamb scored 16 points and Stephon Carter added 13 for the Roadrunners (7-9).
UNLV pulled away in the second half after getting a challenge from Cal State Bakersfield for most of the first half. The Roadrunners trailed 33-27 with 1:35 left before the Rebels scored the final five points for an 11-point halftime advantage.
UNLV began the second half with a 16-2 spurt to take a 54-29 lead on Bellfield’s 3-pointer with 16:08 to play and led comfortably the rest of the way.
Hawkins had four of UNLV’s nine 3-pointers and the Rebels outrebounded Cal State Bakersfield 43-28. Moser collected 11 boards for his eighth double-double of the campaign.
The Roadrunners were only 13-of-25 from the free throw line.
