Matt Humphrey scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half and added eight rebounds and four steals to lead Boston College to a 61-59 victory over visiting Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Ryan Anderson added 12 points and eight boards and Dennis Clifford scored 15 points for the Eagles (7-10, 2-1 ACC), who have recovered from a disastrous start to post wins in five of their last eight games.
The Hokies (11-6, 0-3) have yet to win in the ACC and have No. 3 North Carolina and a trip to No. 17 Virginia coming up in the next week.
Boston College used a 9-2 run closing the first half to take a 29-27 lead at the break and extended it to a 15-4 run with a quick burst opening the second. The Eagles never trailed again.
The Hokies went over five minutes without a field goal during one stretch, allowing Boston College to extend the lead to double digits. A pair of 3-pointers by Jarell Eddie in the final 11 seconds gave Virginia Tech some hope, but Boston College was able to run out the clock.
Victor Davila scored 14 points to lead the Hokies.
