Jamaal Franklin tallied his fifth double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds as 12th-ranked San Diego State extended its winning streak to 11 with a 52-42 victory over host Wyoming on Tuesday.
Chase Tapley added 12 points for the Aztecs (18-2, 4-0 Mountain West), who shot 51 percent from the field and won their fourth straight against the Cowboys (16-4, 2-2 Mountain West).
The win was coach Steve Fisher’s 250th at San Diego State, which has not lost to an unranked opponent in 58 games.
Wyoming lost at home for the second time in 14 games despite Leonard Washington’s 12 points and eight rebounds. Luke Martinez had 11 points, but San Diego native JayDee Luster added just four on 1-of-10 shooting.
The victory capped a 20-hour journey to Laramie for the Aztecs, whose plane arrived seven hours before game time because of inclement weather.
Ahead by three at halftime, San Diego State opened the second half on a 16-6 run and led by 13 with eight minutes to play. The teams committed a combined 35 turnovers.
One game after holding Air Force to 1-of-18 shooting from 3-point range, the Aztecs limited Wyoming to 5-of-22 (22.7 percent) from beyond the arc.
