NO. 22 FLORIDA STATE 63, VIRGINIA 60: Ian Miller capped a 15-point second half by hitting a winning 3-pointer with less than a second to play as Florida State escaped with a road victory.
For the Seminoles (20-9, 11-4 ACC), the win clinches a first-round bye in the ACC tournament and snaps a two-game losing streak.
The loss was the fourth in their last six for the Cavaliers (21-8, 9-6 ACC), who should still be in good shape for an NCAA berth but failed to close out what would have been a solid victory.
FSU took a 29-20 lead into halftime but Virginia adjusted, coming out for the second half with a 23-11 run. The Cavaliers led by 11 with 4:33 to play before the Seminoles ended the game on a 16-2 run.
Miller finished with 18 points, while Xavier Gibson and Michael Snaer each added 12 for the Seminoles.
Mike Scott paced Virginia with 28 points and added 10 rebounds for his 32nd career double-double.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Barring a positive outcome in an unlikely meeting in the ACC Tournament, Virginia’s senior class will graduate having never beaten Florida State in seven tries … The Seminoles have not lost three straight ACC games since late January to early February, 2008 … Florida State can match the all-time school record for ACC victories, set in 1992-93, with a win over Clemson in its regular-season finale.
