Nebraska 75, Nebraska-Omaha 62: Senior big man Andre Almeida knocked down nine of his 11 field goals and finished with 19 points as the host Cornhuskers overcame a slow first half to knock off the Mavericks.
Guard Dylan Talley led all scorers with 22 points for Nebraska, which won despite shooting an abysmal 13.6 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.
Senior forward Brandon Ubel continued his streak of scoring in double digits each game this season by adding 11.
Nebraska-Omaha (1-4) kept pace with the Cornhuskers until midway through the second half. At halftime, Nebraska (3-0) was clinging to a three-point lead, which quickly vanished as the Mavericks finished with 17 turnovers.
Guard Justin Simmons paced Nebraska-Omaha with 19, while forward Alex Welhouse added 14. The Mavericks managed to shoot 61.5 percent from 3-point range.
