No. 4 Louisville 73, Seton Hall 58: Gorgui Dieng had 16 points and 14 rebounds and Montrezl Harrell added 14 points as the visiting Cardinals upended the Pirates in Big East play for their ninth consecutive victory.
Russ Smith scored 11 points and Peyton Siva had seven assists and four steals as Louisville (14-1, 2-0) accumulated 12 steals while forcing 16 turnovers.
Brandon Mobley scored 18 points, Eugene Teague added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Fuquan Edwin tallied 13 points for Seton Hall (12-4, 1-2), which shot just 34.7 percent from the field and lost its second straight contest.
The score was tied eight minutes into the second half before the Cardinals went on a crucial 12-2 run. Luke Hancock hit two 3-pointers and Stephan Van Treese culminated the surge with two free throws to give Louisville a 54-44 edge with 7:25 left. The Cardinals’ largest lead was 17.
Louisville led 36-34 at halftime and opened up a seven-point lead on Harrell’s tip-in with 15:04 to play. The Pirates rebounded with seven straight points and tied the score on a 3-pointer by Edwin with 12:52 remaining.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Louisville was without sophomore F Chane Behanan, who sprained an ankle in practice earlier this week. … Double-digit scorers Edwin (4-of- 14) and Aaron Cosby (1-of-10) were a combined 5-for-24 from the field. … The double-double was the 15th of Dieng’s career.
