No. 25 Wyoming 59, Nevada 48: Leonard Washington enjoyed the most complete game of his career with 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four blocks to lead the visiting Cowboys past the reeling Wolf Pack.
Riley Grabau added a career-high 12 points to complement Washington’s seventh double-double of the season for Wyoming (14-1, 1-1 Mountain West), which rebounded from its first loss by holding Nevada 24 points below its season average.
Deonte Burton scored a game-high 23 points and was the only player to finish in double figures for the Wolf Pack (9-7, 0-2), who have dropped three straight.
The teams combined to shoot 28.8 percent in a sluggish first half as Nevada held Wyoming to a season-low 17 first-half points, taking a three-point lead into the break.
Trailing 28-26 with 13:37 remaining, the Cowboys grabbed control after Grabau hit the first of two 3-pointers and Washington scored six points during a 21-4 run. The Wolf Pack could get no closer than nine points the rest of the way as Wyoming shot 68.2 percent from the field in the second half.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Wyoming held its opponent under its season scoring average for the 14th time … Malik Story, Nevada’s second-leading scorer, continued his offensive slump with six points Saturday and connected on just 2-of-14 shots. During the team’s three-game slide, the senior guard is shooting a dismal 7-of-37 from the field and has scored just 19 points. … Over their last three wins, Cowboy opponents are shooting a combined 2-of-33 from the 3-point line; the Wolf Pack shot 1-of-15 from deep.
