South Carolina 75, Arkansas 54: Brian Richardson came off the bench to match a career high with 20 points, make three 3-pointers and grab six rebounds as the host Gamecocks cruised past the Razorbacks.
Bruce Ellington scored 14 points and Lakeem Jackson had 11 to help South Carolina (12-7, 2-4 SEC) snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 8-4 at home. The Gamecocks matched their total number of conference wins from last season and registered their first SEC victory of 20 points or more in seven seasons.
Arkansas (12-7, 3-3) fell to 0-4 on the road. Marshawn Powell had 22 points and 13 rebounds, both game highs, to lead the Razorbacks.
Arkansas jumped out to a 15-3 lead but South Carolina produced a 40-11 run and led 43-26 at halftime. The Gamecocks outrebounded the Razorbacks 36-26 and shot 57.7 percent (30-for-52) from the field.
South Carolina is 11-14 in the series, but 7-4 against Arkansas in Columbia. The Gamecocks have won four of the last six meetings and seven of the last 11.
GAME NOTEBOOK: South Carolina limited Arkansas G BJ Young to seven points. He scored a game-high 27 points against the Gamecocks in the previous meeting Feb. 11, 2012. … Arkansas shot 34.4 percent (21-for-61). … The Razorbacks had won nine of their last 12 games before Saturday’s game.
