Georgia Tech 71, No. 7 Miami (Fla.) 69: Freshman Marcus Georges-Hunt tapped in his own missed shot at the buzzer as the visiting Yellow Jackets handed the Hurricanes their first home loss.
Chris Bolden recorded a career-high 21 points and Daniel Miller had 17, including a layup to tie it at 69 with 2:14 remaining for Georgia Tech (16-13, 6-11 ACC). Robert Carter added 12 points and Georges-Hunt had four points, six rebounds and six assists for the Yellow Jackets, who trailed by 11 halftime.
Kenny Kadji registered 18 points and 11 rebounds while Durand Scott had 17 points for Miami (23-6, 14-3), which missed out on a chance to clinch the outright league title. Shane Larkin added 12 points and seven assists for the Hurricanes, who dropped to 13-1 at home.
Georgia Tech led 14-11 early before Miami ran off the next 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers by Kadji, and built a 43-32 lead at intermission. Kadji poured in 14 points and the Hurricanes shot 57.1 percent from the field in the first half.
Bolden made a 3-pointer off the glass and Kammeon Holsey followed with a basket to cap a 7-0 run and bring the Yellow Jackets within 60-58 with 8:52 remaining. Bolden’s driving layup put Georgia Tech up 67-66 with 3:35 left before a free throw from Julian Gamble and a basket by Scott gave Miami its last lead at 69-67.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Georgia Tech shot 51.7 percent from the field overall and drained 8-of-18 from 3-point range. … Miami can still win its first outright ACC title by beating Clemson at home on Saturday. … Georgia Tech, which last defeated a Top 25 team in 2010, improved to 3-5 in ACC road games.
