No. 17 UCLA 89, UC Santa Barbara 76: Kyle Anderson had 21 points and nine assists and the host Bruins cooled off the hot-shooting Gauchos to move to 8-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Jordan Adams led UCLA in scoring for the eighth straight time with 22 points. Freshman Zach LaVine had 15 points as the Bruins finished the game on a 24-11 run.

Alan Williams, who tied the UC Santa Barbara single-game record with 39 points last time out, led the Gauchos with 23 points while Michael Bryson had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kyle Boswell came off the bench to knock down five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points as UC Santa Barbara (3-3) began 9-for-12 from 3-point range.

There were 15 lead changes and 14 ties in the contest which was deadlocked at 42 at the half. The Bruins took the lead for good 68-65 on a 3-pointer from the corner by Bryce Alford with 8:13 to play.

That began a game-turning 12-2 run for the Bruins, who entered the contest leading the Pac-12 averaging more than 90 points. The Gauchos couldn't make up ground from the long range after its hot start and finished 13-for-26 from behind the arc and both teams shot 52.8 percent from the floor.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Steve Alford is the first UCLA coach to start his career with eight straight wins. ...UCLA plays at undefeated Missouri on Saturday. ...Williams also tied a school record last game with eight blocks but didn't block a shot against the Bruins.
