No. 25 North Carolina 81, UNC Greensboro 50: Brice Johnson scored 14 points off the bench as the host Tar Heels avoided a letdown after knocking off top-ranked Michigan State earlier this week, and posted the win over the Spartans.

James Michael McAdoo had his best game in three weeks, finishing with 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks for North Carolina (6-2). Marcus Paige added 12 points and eight assists, Kennedy Meeks finished with 12 points and eight rebounds and Nate Britt added 11 points for the Tar Heels, who also upset then-No. 2 Louisville this season but own losses to mid-majors Belmont and Alabama-Birmingham.

Kyle Cain and Kayel Locke scored 13 points apiece to lead UNC Greensboro (4-5). Tyrone Outlaw added nine points off the bench for the Spartans.

The Tar Heels scored the final 20 points of the first half to take a 44-14 lead into intermission. UNC Greensboro did not make a field goal the final 8:24 and committed 15 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes.

The Spartans made their first four shots of the second half for their best offensive stretch, but they never got closer than 21. They finished with 21 turnovers, with freshman guard Tevon Saddler leading the way with eight.

GAME NOTEBOOK: McAdoo, the second-leading scorer for North Carolina last season who came in shooting 29.3 percent in his last four games, ended a streak of four straight games in single figures while shooting 4-for-8 from the field. … North Carolina came in shooting 61.8 percent from the line and went 16-for-26. … The Tar Heels return to action Saturday against visiting Kentucky, which began the week ranked No. 4 but will likely fall after its loss Friday night against No. 20 Baylor.
