Saint Joseph's 58, Temple 56: Isaiah Miles deposited a career-high 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds as the host Hawks survived the Owls.

DeAndre Bembry contributed 11 points and seven boards for the Hawks (4-3), who won despite shooting 2-of-15 from 3-point range as part of a 35.7 percent shooting effort overall. Saint Joseph's got a key block from Bembry on Will Cummings' drive in the final seconds before Quenton DeCosey's runner rimmed off at the buzzer.

DeCosey paced the Owls (4-3) with a season-high 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting, but his teammates went just 13-of-38, including 2-of-12 from long range. Cummings added 13 points, five rebounds and four assists for Temple.

The Hawks led by as many as 14 early in the second half before the Owls slowly whittled the deficit to 53-50 with 2:53 left thanks to an 8-0 run capped by DeCosey's jumper. Josh Brown's putback drew Temple within 57-56 with 30 seconds remaining, and the Owls' defense forced a tie-up before DeCosey was called for an offensive foul on his drive to the bucket, and Miles made 1-of-2 foul shots to set up the final sequence.

Temple had more turnovers (nine) than field goals (seven) in a first half where the Owls shot 33 percent from the field and missed half of their 10 free throws. The Hawks received 10 first-half points from Miles, whose 3-pointer beat the buzzer to create a 34-22 lead at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miles' previous season high came in a 15-point effort against Vermont. His previous career high came last season, when he scored 17 against Loyola-Maryland. ... The Hawks have won three of the last four meetings between the teams after losing the previous 10 matchups. ... Bembry added two blocks, two steals and two assists.
