Butler 79, No. 21 Seton Hall 75 (OT): Roosevelt Jones scored four of his 23 points in the final minute of overtime, grabbed eight rebounds and made a key defensive play late as the Bulldogs handed the Pirates their first home loss.
Kellen Dunham scored 21 points and Kameron Woods recorded nine points and 15 rebounds for Butler (13-5, 3-2 Big East), which blew a seven-point lead in the final 2 1/2 minutes of regulation and survived 5-of-18 shooting from 3-point range. Andrew Chrabascz added 12 points and five rebounds before fouling out for the Bulldogs.
Sterling Gibbs scored 21 of his 30 points in the second half and overtime before picking up his fifth foul as Seton Hall (13-4, 3-2) fell to 8-1 at home and lost for the first time in 13 games when leading at halftime. Freshman Khadeen Carrington scored a career-high 20 points while freshman Angel Delgado registered 12 points and a personal-best 15 rebounds for the Pirates, who shot 31.6 percent from the field in the second half and overtime.
Butler scored 13 of the first 14 points after the break and Dunham's 3-pointer gave the Bulldogs a 44-35 lead before Gibbs scored 12 of Seton Hall's next 14 points - the final two on a driving layup to make it 52-49 with 6:40 left. After Butler moved in front 62-55, Gibbs converted a pair of free throws to make it 65-65 with 48.3 seconds to go and, after Jones and Carrington traded baskets, Dunham - with Gibbs providing tough defense - missed a jumper at the end of regulation.
Dunham's jumper from beyond the arc 1:13 into overtime marked the first points of the extra session and Gibbs' 3-pointer trimmed the Bulldogs' lead to 71-70 midway through the period before he fouled out on the next trip down the floor. Dunham converted the two free throws and Jones restored the three-point lead on a reverse layup with 56.1 seconds left before blocking Carrington's shot on the ensuing possession and sealing the victory on a driving layup with 17.2 seconds left.
