Forward Robert Carter had a season-high 20 points and forward Jake Layman scored 16 to lead No. 2 Maryland to a 96-55 victory over visiting St. Francis (Pa.) on Friday night in College Park, Md.
Freshman Diamond Stone also had a season-high 16 points for the Terrapins, who extended their home winning streak to 18 games.
Guard Ben Millaud-Meunier had 13 points for St. Francis, which is 3-4 and has lost all four of its road games this season. Forward Ronnie Drinnon added 11 points with 10 rebounds for the Red Flash.
Maryland never trailed and a jumper by Stone provided the Terps with a 32-12 lead with 4:13 left in the half. The Terrapins continued to pull away and opened a 45-24 lead at the break.
A 3-pointer by guard Melo Trimble boosted the margin to 53-28 with 15:51 left in the game. From that point, Maryland coach Mark Turgeon was able to play his reserves.
Maryland suffered its first loss of the season on Dec. 1 against No. 9 North Carolina in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Maryland will face another tough test against Connecticut in the Jimmy V Classic in New York on Tuesday.
The Red Flash take on Duquesne at the Cambria County War Memorial on Dec. 12.
