Drew Timme scored 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting and collected eight rebounds as top-ranked Gonzaga rolled to a 106-69 victory over visiting San Diego in West Coast Conference action on Saturday night in Spokane, Wash.
Jalen Suggs contributed 17 points and seven rebounds as the Bulldogs (22-0, 13-0 WCC) won their 26th straight game dating back to last season. Gonzaga has won 19 consecutive games by double digits and has scored 100 or more points five times.
Corey Kispert recorded 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals and Andrew Nembhard added 12 points and three steals as Gonzaga posted its 49th straight home victory. That leaves the team one shy of matching the program record of 50, which ended with a loss to Santa Clara on Feb. 12, 2007.
The Zags have beaten San Diego 14 straight times, 25 of the past 26 and 47 of the last 50.
Josh Parrish scored 13 points for the Toreros (3-8, 2-5). Joey Calcaterra, Marion Humphrey and Jared Rodriguez added 10 points apiece for San Diego, which lost its two meetings with Gonzaga by an average of 32.5 points.
The contest was San Diego's second since returning from the program's third coronavirus pause of the season.
The Toreros shot 43.8 percent from the field, including 5 of 20 from 3-point range. San Diego committed 18 turnovers.
Gonzaga held edges of 70-40 in points in the paint and 40-13 in fast-break points while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. The Bulldogs were just 5 of 19 3-point range and committed 14 turnovers.
San Diego trailed by six points eight-plus minutes into the contest before the Bulldogs rattled off 12 straight points to take a 29-11 lead. Timme's jumper pushed the lead to 20 at 35-15 with 5:59 left in the half.
Kispert's three-point play increased Gonzaga's advantage to 49-19 with 56 seconds left, and Timme added a basket to push the lead to 32 before Gonzaga settled for a 51-22 halftime cushion.
The onslaught continued in the second half, and Dominick Harris' layup pushed the lead over 40 to make it 86-45 with 8:36 remaining.
Julian Strawther converted a three-point play to push Gonzaga's lead to 101-57 with 3:27 remaining.
