Michael Flowers scored 20 points and Noah Williams finished with 19 to lead Washington State to its 18th straight nonconference victory, beating Winthrop 92-86 on Monday night at Pullman, Wash.

Washington State (5-0) led by as many as 24 points in the second half before a late rally by Winthrop, which made 13 of its 18 attempts from 3-point range after halftime.

Patrick Good led Winthrop with 33 points on 11-of-19 shooting -- all from 3-point range. He was 9 of 15 from beyond the arc in the second half.

Russell Jones Jr. had 19 points, making 7 of 11 shots, 4 of 5 from 3-point range, for Winthrop (2-3).

Washington State led 47-28 at halftime behind Tyrell Roberts, Williams and Flowers outscoring the Eagles with a combined 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field, including 6-of-9 success from 3-point range.

Roberts finished with 13 points.

The Cougars took their biggest lead, 64-40, with 13:42 left.

Winthrop responded to cut the gap to 72-61 with 6:04 remaining following a 3-pointer by Good that capped a 10-2 run.

Washington State went without a made field goal for 9:19 until DJ Rodman sank a layup with 2:24 left, giving the Cougars a 78-68 lead.

Jones made a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 78-71 with 1:59 left.

After Flowers hit four straight free throw attempts over the next two possessions, Jones made another 3-pointer to trim the Cougars' lead to 82-74 with 1:28 remaining.

Good's shot from beyond the arc with 43 seconds left pulled the visitors within 87-80.

Two more 3-pointers by Jones and Good trimmed the margin to 91-86 with 12 seconds to go.

Williams made one of two free throws with 11 seconds remaining, and Good turned the ball over as the clock expired.

D.J. Burns Jr. added 14 points and Micheal Anumba had 11 points and five rebounds for Winthrop.

Washington State had only six assists as a team while committing 16 turnovers.
