Avalanche 3, Oilers 1: Jamie McGinn scored his first goal of the season to snap a tie in the second period and Semyon Varlamov turned aside 25 shots as Colorado remained undefeated at the Pepsi Center.
PA Parenteau scored his sixth goal - and fourth in as many games - and Paul Stastny added his third goal in two contests. Matt Duchene had a pair of assists for the Avalanche, who opened their season high-tying four-game homestand by avenging Monday's 4-1 setback to the Oilers.
Top overall pick Nail Yakupov scored his fifth goal this season - and second versus Colorado - and Sam Gagner had an assist to extend his point streak to eight games. Devyn Dubnyk finished with 37 saves for the Oilers, who finished 1-1-1 on their three-game road trip.
Just under 3 1/2 minutes after Parenteau leveled the contest, McGinn gave Colorado the advantage after skating to the net and deflecting Duchene's shot past Dubnyk with 4:24 remaining in the second period.
Yakupov opened the scoring just 58 seconds into the game after converting a 2-on-1 rush. Parenteau forged a 1-1 tie midway into the second period after deflecting a point shot past Dubnyk mere moments after Colorado killed off a power play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Colorado veteran RW Milan Hejduk played in his 999th career game. Hejduk, who had six shots on goal, will likely compete in Game No. 1,000 on Monday against Dallas. ... Edmonton captain Shawn Horcoff missed his second consecutive contest with a strained neck. ... Avalanche D Ryan Wilson, who had an assist on Parenteau's goal, suffered a leg injury in the second period and did not return.
